Participating in the Reading Royals pre-season tournament with Bedford Futsal and Worcester also in attendance, the Aztecs came up against FA NFS league opposition during these pre-season bouts.
Getting off to an early start, the Aztecs defeated Bedford 1-0 with the only goal coming from Kaylee Senter. In the second game, the hosts Reading Royals fought hard in what ended up as a 0-0 draw. After two clean sheets, the Aztecs couldn't hold any longer, losing 3-0 to Worcester.
Onto the semi-final, and the Aztecs faced Bedford once more, repeating the scoreline from earlier to win 1-0 with the goal coming from Belinda Villa Rodriguez. Much credit was given to Lauren Sayler for keeping three clean sheets in four games.
Onto the final, where the Aztecs were matched against Worcester to battle for gold. Again, Worcester came out on top, again, by the same scoreline as earlier, winning 3-0. The Aztecs were thrilled with their performances. The tournament was great preparation for the league, getting to know our future opponents, and an opportunity for the players to build some more rapport.
